I loved the storyline of The Bachelor Farmers that incorporates romance and history. Mahal ends up living under the same roof as the two brothers when the younger one hires her as their cook. Nobody expect to fall in love with anyone and yet, that is exactly what happens. How this gets resolved makes for great reading and I'll leave it up to you to buy this book and find out. I loved it and highly recommend. I look forward to future books by this writer.

The Bachelor Farmers got my book club sharing our own stories about our grandparents and relatives who had immigrated to the U.S. many years ago. Like the story of the Gustafson family in the book, it was interesting to see where they ended up and why. The struggles of the Gustafson's and their determination to carve out a better life was something we could all relate to. I felt close to the characters in this book, especially Mahal, who was torn between her love for one of the bachelor farmers. There were twists and turns that surprised me and kept me wanting to know more. The ending was a real shocker, but I loved it. I would definitely recommend this book.

Charming debut novel by this talented author. The reader is immediately transported back in time to life on the ranch in the early 1900's. Best read in the winter, next to a fireplace, for the full effect. I look forward to her next novel!

I really enjoyed The Bachelor Farmers. I am mostly Norwegian and my family homesteaded in Minnesota also. Ms. Sorrels' descriptions of the land and the struggles of the characters was so accurate! Reading her book made me appreciate my own relatives even more. I have loaned the book out to several people. Everyone has enjoyed her writing. It is historically correct yet also a sweet "love" story. Looking forward to a sequel or another book by this author.

I loved this book, I couldn't put it down! The writing is so realistic, you feel like you are there. The characters were very well developed and very believable. I could just imagine how the brothers and Mahal look and I sincerely felt their emotions. The beautiful country scenery is a lovely contrast to the rugged country home. I read this book while I was on a beach in Mexico and I loved how the description of the winter blizzard kept me cool in the hot sun! Buy this book, you will love it!
