Alf Ridpath 1923 ~ 2015

An account of the career of a typical 'Tiffie'- brought up in London and joined the Navy just a few months before the outbreak of WW2. Training at Fisgard, Arctic Convoys, Sinking of the Scharnhorst, then out to the Far East in time for the Japanese surrender. Peacetime service in the Caribbean, the Suez operation on HMS Daring and the lead up to the Cod War. 22 years regular service was followed by a further 20 years as a Civilian Instructor at HMS Fisgard. Then an active retirement in the Cornish village of Antony.
