This book is a snapshot of the excellent discussions and ideas shared by members of TSGOA. It shows the huge diversity of topics and experiences that encompass our great lifestyle. It shows the positive attitude of our group, a thirst for knowledge and experience so that we can connect to that age-old idea of “Be prepared”. The beauty of this lifestyle is that there is always something new to learn or try. It is exciting and enjoyable to head out bush and practice primitive techniques. To hunt and forage, to grow your own food and work to become more self sufficient, more able to ride out the storm and ultimately to live more deliberately and enjoy the freedoms of a life truly lived. Enjoy this book and most importantly enjoy what you do, from starting fire by friction to making a jam from your own orchard. From building a solar powered electrical system to sewing on a button and everything in between.

Aug 7, 2012Nicely set out. Lots of good hints from people who do it "for real". No armchair experts here.
Jul 30, 2012Real people, real stuff done for real, excellent.
Jul 30, 2012There are many books on Survival, most of them either aren't relevant to Australia or the information is vague at best. "The Survivalists Group of Australia 2012 Handbook" is neither of these things. This book is written by people who go out and try things for themselves. Not only does the book contain FACTUAL, hands on experience, it shows that the authors are REAL people who make mistakes and continue to perfect ideas through experience, not postulation. In the world of the Internet, it is easy to Google a couple of topics and sound like an expert. The contributors to this book, however, get their hands dirty and aren't afraid to show that they made mistakes along the way. A varying array of interesting topics from a realistic perspective. If you are looking for heroic adventures full of fantasy. This is not the book for you. If you are interested in becoming self sufficient, then "The Survivalists Group of Australia 2012 Handbook" is a winner.
Jul 29, 2012what a breath of fresh air this book is. this is NOT the, describe how its done and show pictures, style of handbook. It is full of info and pictures from contributors that have actually gone out and done it for themselves. this is real life experiences with real hands on approach to show that it can be done. this book is based on actually getting out there and doing it for real. If you are into the outdoors or just have an interest in Survivalism being done in Australia by the average Aussie bloke, then this is one to have in your library, i am so impressed i will be out there sometime soon and having a go....
Jul 29, 2012What can I say, WOW what an awesome book, I'm teaching my kids about bush skills and am preparing a group of kids for a bush trip later in the year. This has become my go to manual for tips and ideas, everything in the book has been tried and done. I highly recommend this book to anyone that has an interest in the Australian bush or is into self reliance at all, I guarantee you will be inspired to get out there and try new things.
