Simply Pink Magazine

ByBrittany Silverstein

Each year, every senior at my high school is assigned a senior project; a project to demonstrate creativity, what we have learned, and to create a learning "stretch" that we would not usually commit to. I am an AP/ honors student, and have always been enthused in writing in my English class, so I came up with the idea of becoming the editor of a student-run magazine aimed toward teenage girls (similar to a magazine like Seventeen or CosmoGirl ) that would be distributed to the public. I came up with the idea to name it "Simply Pink" and donate all of its profits to an organization that I highly support--The Avon Breast Cancer Foundation. Each magazine sold will give $1 back to the Avon Foundation. In the magazine, along with familiar topics such as love, fashion, beauty, etc, it, has have a special featurette on breast cancer to teach teenage girls, most left in the dark, the seriousness of the disease.
