"Auntie's Ghost -- by Bruce Ashkenas" I found the book enjoyable -- Pleasing narrative, a good story line -- not too preachy, but with a point of view. The characters were will formed and believable. The story, straight forward with a soft twist at the end. Certainly a worthwhile read for a young teen or pre-teen.

"Auntie's Ghost by Bruce Ashkenas" A good story – of family, loyalty, and social conscience. In a small Florida town during the civil rights era a thoughtful young teen meets racial and religious conflict. Events require her and her parents to choose their places in a divided community. The author skillfully weaves themes of family (her parents’ protectiveness and concern), friendship (lost and regained), and town that have you caring and worrying about the way they unfold. Through tough times, the girl is mentored by her aunt’s heard but unseen spirit. This story surfaces real life challenges for young readers in a nurturing context. Rating: six stars
