Your happiness is not dependent on what’s happening out there; it depends on what’s happening inside you. It’s not a matter of chance; it’s a matter of choice. Whenever you really choose to do so, you can be happy. How about right now?

It took me longer than I thought to read Happiness Now because one of the first pages said to do what makes me happy - and do it right now! So I took a nap in the hammock. The other reason it took a while to read it is that I was enjoying it so much. I’m looking forward to going through it again more slowly - taking notes, making notes, thinking about the suggestions, etc. Bottom line - I loved it!
Both the quotes and the "advice" following each quote have been useful to me. Being able to get grounded, reminded, or back in touch with happiness with just a short read is especially useful when you don't have the time or the inclination to do an exercise or meditate on the subject. Happiness NOW indeed.
I keep this on my desk - I especially love the quotes. It isn't something you sit down in one night and read, its something you keep handy and reference when the need arises.
