The story hereafter is a trippy love novel - as in love your self. Just remember, no one has to die in a love story to make it a tragedy: it is the thoughts that die. They perish in time or the lack thereof. - Bryan W. Brickner is the author of The Promise Keepers: Politics and Promises (1999) and received his Ph.D. in political science from Purdue University in 1997. This is his first novel. He is currently a writer and activist in Chicago.

"A Quick But Thought-provoking Read" I'm still not sure if this book is a love story, commentary on a particular love story, or something completely different. Very short chapters of narritive are interspersed with philosophical observations on the kind of relationships taking place in the story. It sounds very existential, and in some ways it was, but it was actually fun to read, with enough plot and style to keep everything moving to a climax that is both understandable and perplexing. Afterwards, the reader has something to think about. Was this a special episode for the characters, is it what always happens in their lives? Did anything happen at all, or did they just let things happen to them? Was the commentay there to illumiate the story, or was the story there to illuminate the commentary? I'd say it's worth your time to take a look at this one to see if you find any answers, or, perhaps, even better questions.
