Reverend William Garner, Senior (about 1745-1824) was a planter, a Revolutionary War Patriot, and a pioneering Baptist Minister. He owned property in the Roanoke River Valley along the Virginia –North Carolina border alternately living between the two states. William was a descendant of the Garners of Isle of Wight County Va. Among his descendants are the Garners of the Virginia Southside and eastern North Carolina though this family has spread over the country in modern times.
