One of the coolest things on the Internet is the possibility to easily discover exciting works by new talents of our times. One good example is "Bloodline of Darkness", by promising writer C.A. Milson, a pleasant surprise for any fan of horror and fantasy books out there. If you're into a well-told "men versus demons" story, then the old cliche will certainly fit here: this book is for you! Alex, is a seemingly normal guy, but only apparently. In fact, Alex is the only hope of mankind to prevent a demon named Tanzac to establish his new kingdom on earth. The legitimate descendant of primordial gods, "The Chosen", Alex is taken in a succession of sinister events, that can cause immediate annihilation of the world we know, only to discover that he needs to know himself better in order to save the human race. We follow Alex on his amazing trip, dealing with the mysteries of an ancient religion, occult symbols, time traveling and demonic creatures until he... More > loses all sense of what is real or imagination, falling down from one dream to another, always facing unimaginable dangers in each breath-taking chapter. Far beyond a mere derivation of the old plot "good vs evil","Bloodline" has its greatest virtue precisely in what you can read between the lines. If the whole thing may seem too fanciful and the reader may even feel a little lost from time to time while reading a few confusing sequences on the other hand, the book just grows in quality with the good ideas the author adds to the theme and the solid construction of the characters, all of them very plausible. Alex, our hero, is the guy next door, full of potential but covered with uncertainties and reluctant to accept his ultimate destiny. Milson's good writing makes us believe and hope for the young man and turns us into witnesses of his incredible journey of self-knowledge and power. "Bloodline of Darkness" is a good book that will certainly get you glued to it from the beginning to the unpredictable end, turning pages like crazy, extremely anxious of what will happen next.< Less
