The first reason Calvin decided to write this book was to unload the heaviness and emotional weight he was carrying so that he could think more clearly, start seeing life more positively and regain a strong focus. The second reason would be that he felt that God placed it in his heart to write this book not only to start his own healing process but to help others to start their healing process also. Calvin recalls a time when he “used to have visions of standing in a long hallway with so many doors open and in these doors were so many memories of my past, some I haven’t thought about in so long. Then the title of the book came ‘The Dwellings of My Mind’, to dwell means to live or to stay, a place of residence. Thanks to God, these thoughts had a temporary place to stay.” Calvin is forever grateful to God for continually guiding, blessing, and choosing him to put this book out to help others escape and embrace what they have been through.
