This is not your typical, "I am the parent of a special needs child" book. This is a copy of personal journal notes from birth to age 22 years, of a child born with Down syndrome. Unique, as this child also has autism, non-medical catatonia and Bi-polar disorder. Fascinating, as symptoms of each disorder are recorded before diagnosis made. Shocking as agency's are exposed for the treatment he received. Heartwarming, as his mom allows us to experience her personal thoughts of her special child. Eli, born 33 years ago, a time when nothing was available to help with his needs, will allow the reader to believe in miracles and experience determination of any parent. Documents printed in book providing truth to the unbelievable stories published.

"'It's OK Eli' A true story of courage and ultimate devotion" This is the powerfully written story of a families triumph by overcoming overwhelming prejudice to allow their son to lead as normal a life as possible. The authors son, Eli, has multiple disabilities which is masterfully documented in her journals. Suber doesn't shirk from telling the whole story, which at times can be deeply upsetting. Her writing style is wonderfully captivating keeping us (readers) totally enthralled with her strength and positivity to ensure Eli is given every chance to succeed.'Its OK Eli' is not just valuable, but invaluable reading for all of us.

"It's OK Eli" This is a wonderful book! It will make you laugh, it will make you cry and it will make you think. The author writes in the first person and has several stories about things that happened to them as Eli was growing up. It shows their frustrations as they traveled through the system trying to find help for their son and the many obstacles they faced. It will open your eyes to the things that a parent of a handicapped child goes through, all of the emotions that you feel. Awesome book!
