When Paul and Joanne Johnson moved from England to Sweden during the war, they had no idea how it would impact their family. That their two daughters Cindy and Jackie, sisters with seven years apart, were to grow up in a small town with it’s share of joy but also prejudice. They would have to reckon with partial schoolmates, pestering local boys, and an opinionated ladies’ society, but most of all - sisterhood.
The story takes place in the autumn and winter of 1951. The war has been over for some time, yet strong emotions still runs deep in the a small secluded community of Alsterhult.
Amongst all the impressionable events taking place in their young lives, Cindy and Jackie will have to learn what it means to be sisters.
A wholesome reading for the family, that will take you back to a time when life was a little simpler.
