The photographic testimonies of an era, reflected on shades of grey by Cat, inspired me to revisit those times and to take a look on how the scene is looking today. It can be punk, rock or metal, but the feeling of being out of the ordinary, expressing visible signs of what is life outside the box, stayed with me after enjoying the close view of Cat's shots.
A collection of over one hundred iconic high contrast black and white rock n roll portraits. The images were originally captured on Tri-X film pushed to ISO 1600 and later scanned on a Noritsu 3001. The time was 1980 through 1982. The bands were mostly punk, new wave or power pop. The stage was the San Francisco Bay Area. 999, B-Team, Blurt, Chrome Dinette, The Contractions, The Dead Kennedys, Elements of Style, Girl Can't Help It, George Thorogood & the Destroyers, The J. Geils Band, Jo Allen & the Shapes, Killing Joke, The Lenny Kaye Connection, The Lloyds, The Mutants, No Sisters, The Punts (aka Bonnie Hayes & the Wild Combo), The Ramones, Romeo Void, Sparks, The Squares, The Rolling Stones, SVT, The Fall, The Nuns, The Varve, Translator, VKTMS, and Xmas Eve.
