“Curveballs” written by Catherine A. Mardon entails the story of a woman who narrates her experience from a child to her adult years. The female narrator, who is anonymous allows the reader to step into her world and witness the trials and tribulations that she has endured. The book, is a great read for those who are looking guidance when going through major obstacles in their lives. The experiences itself are very relatable. For instance, the narrator discusses the struggles that she had to endure as a child when dealing with the expectations from her mother. The word ‘expectations’ is a constant pedestal for children who are hovered by their parents. In this case the narrator's mother, which is relevant still in todays society. Another piece that is quite relatable is the family dynamics. While not going into too much detail, the family dynamics of the narrator are relatable to some extent to which I find the reader will find interesting. Overall, the book is a great read for those... More > who are again looking for guidance in their life for a good read. Mardon taps into the reader's life by providing experiences that are relatable and also ambition for those who are lacking. As a side note, the symbolism with the title. Everyone says that life throws curveballs at you and surely this book does. Pick up the book when you have a chance, you surely won’t be disappointed!< Less
