"Couture knitting translates the principles of haute couture into an approach to hand-knitting that effects a fundamental rethinking of the traditional technical and design vocabularies of the hand-knitter ... The result is a different and unique approach to hand-knitting that is reflected in the designs themselves, in the techniques used to execute the designs, and in the way the characteristics of the knitted fabric come to play as critical a role in the conception of the garment as either the details of its design or the techniques used to execute this design." Thus, Catherine Lowe introduces her renowned concepts of couture knitting to her readers.
Now available in this new format, "The Ravell'd Sleeve" revises and brings together in a single volume the four issues of Lowe's acclaimed journal in which she explores the practice and techniques of couture knitting.

I would appreciate seeing an actual preview of the book, not just the introductory language. Just one page from one of the explanatory articles would help a lot before I plunk down $40. Thank you.
An extremely well written treatise on knitting and how to hone the design and detail in finishing. NOT a pattern book. This is a book to be read... no glossy colored pictures. Is for a more experienced knitter. Highly recommended.
