This book is a must-read for anyone interested in Chinese Canadian history and family history. Produced by the members of a family history workshop in Vancouver, each piece is just as much about the process of recalling and rediscovering the past as about the families themselves. As the author's notes reveal, writing about one's family takes incredible discipline and dedication, as well as the support of peers and others in the community. Luckily, the 8 contributors to _Finding Memories, Tracing Routes_ have given us profoundly moving stories of struggle, tragedy, wisdom, and perseverance. Readers will be inspired to begin collecting their own histories and sharing it with others.
