"Death", is the old standby. Writers sprinkle it on their morning toast. Some use a ladle. Some chow it, whole. We strive, more and more, not to overdo, in this friendly culture and this pretty world. Most everyone, appreciates a good scare; some by nature, wish darker food-for-thought; the youth, need that moment of !Scream!, before trotting off, into the belly of The Machine...but, few who cleave to the mainstream, will drink deeply of the waters of Styx. Certainly, one can't include the topics of suicide, or murder. Death in any form, nose-to-nose, is too repugnant--isn't it? After all, Death is strange to us and but for that eponymous friend who's had a Bridey Murphy moment, we've never known anything but Terra Firma and raw feed from NASA. So, why would even the most Gone With The Windish amateur, hold forth in such a manner? Why? For what purpose? Why hold up every face of The Reaper and say, "See how ugly this is?" Why present the oldest topic in the world,... More > without parlor tricks and minus any apology, replete with a dash of snide and a pinch of glib? Who would tear the cloak away, and show to us, the bones of Man? Who would buy this and read it? A: A person in whom there remains No Lie. We, on this mote, caterwaul for honesty. Even if we disagree enough to throw hands, we wanta KNOW. Postmodernism, relativism, do not give us adequate answers. So, many today, and certainly in The West, cry, "TELL ME!!" So, that's what I'm striving to do. That's what I did, here, in this chap. I'll warn you right now, nonfriend, it's not warm and nummy. You won't like me better, having read it. But, you'll talk about it. And, you'll tell others. And, you'll at least appreciate "what he *Tried To Say*". You'll do so, because I do not cop to nobility, real or contrived. I would if I could. I can't. I'm not Sydney Carton.< Less
