If you are interested in reading about gangs, then this is the book for you. I love that this book gives detailed history of gangs, but what really makes this book amazing is how the author wants to inform those who are in a gang or thinking of joining one that they are doing it for the wrong reasons. The author is passionate throughout the whole book, but when he talks about the 13th amendment he really expresses his emotions. Cesar makes it clear that the government benefits when people of color are divided, and that is something that needs to be discussed more often for the sake of our future generations. Lastly, I would like to say that this book is empowering, and after finishing the book you look at things differently. Thanks for writing this powerful book, and helping people like myself learn a bit of history concerning the Latino community.

This book gives a simple yet riveting details on the historical front of the rise and challenge of Latino gangs. This is an important work that all youth and educators should have, especially, at for risk population and the need to read and start developing a conversation is crucial to stopping the hemorrhage of our young people's life. This book may change the outlook of some of these youngster's lives, who may be influenced or attracted to joining a gang, and maybe have them think twice about the brown on brown or black on brown victimization of a whole generation. This book can start asking the questions, why?, and hopefully find some kind of alternative paths that can unify rather than disseminate a whole generation. Cesars, first hand knowledge of the La Razas split is very insightful and can be a tool of inspiration and empowerment.
