I'm just finished reading Cracks in the Pavement and I cannot wait to recommend this book. It's written with such a natural eloquence that it's difficult to believe this the first published work from Mr. Morse. The "writings" address a range of topics from the strengths of community to our unabashed embrace of new technologies to the importance of retaining close ties to the natural world and much more. The parts recalling his travel and work in Southeast Asia are especially illustrative of the balance people strike between everyday living and working for the greater good. Regarding his experience in Burma, Mr. Morse says "an outpost of unfamiliarity and mystery on the world map has sprung to vivid, complex life and personal relevance." The same becomes true for the reader for each of the locations described in these writings. The book is informative and reverential and inspiring and...well, I just can't say enough. It's well worth it. Do buy!
