“Hate My Face” is a powerful theory of what it will take to eliminate the negative image of the Black Man. Crouch argues that lack of love is the root of the problem. He challenges himself and other mature Black Brothers to reach out in love to the younger generation of Black males. The goal is to dispel the negative image of the Black Man through nurturing and loving relationships with other positive Black men. From hip-hop, to relationships, to self-esteem Crouch gets to the root of the problem. It is a shocking and truthful taste of reality. As a Black woman this book gave me a good slap in the face in regards to the hand I may have played in fortifying the negative image of Black men. I would recommend this book to any adult who is raising or nurturing a young Black Man.
