"5 stars for 'A Convenient Fabrication'" Thank you again Mr. Opalek. This is by far the best book I have read in a long time. Your diligent research, technical acumen, insightful quotes and spot-on commentary is refreshing and hilarious keeping this book from being far from dry whilst easy to understand. Thank you for bringing the truth to light. The only inconvenience in an Inconvenient Truth would have been to Al Gore, if he had to put any effort into trying to prove, or truly comprehend, any of the rubbish he put forth. Al Gore’s entire proposition is scary and depressing at best (for its believers) and even scarier is the notion that he really believes all this. I wonder if Al did any of the research himself or if he just believed the consensus of what ‘his’ [mostly un-named] scientists had to say. You’d think someone so passionate about this topic would roll up his sleeves and really try to get to the bottom of this situation with hard, provable, objective facts. He... More > was obviously advised on much of this information [if only to have a scapegoat down the line]. Of one thing I am convinced, he is savvy with manipulating human emotions for personal gain. He knows that bad news, death and destruction and environmental guilt all are emotional topics that sell. As a former vice president of the greatest country in the free world it makes one wonder what else was fabricated and/or glossed over as well. Well, but he won the Peace Prize, right? Those folks must know something we don’t, right? And for winning the Nobel Peace Prize, the choice was anything but noble. I feel the judges were asleep at the wheel on this one or so overly emotionally affected or politically motivated that all due diligence went out the window. Shame on the judges, committees or whoever nominates and grants this award. I have lost all respect for those participating in the awarding of it and if they must know, I am not the only one questioning the honor behind it. Warm fuzzies and social consensus only go so far; there were and still are, more honorable people who deserved this award and it is a damn shame that their honest efforts got passed up for a lazy machine’s preposterous claims all for wanting to gain false notoriety and please a political machine that is a environmental, grant-sucking, institution in itself. Still a skeptic? Still a couch potato only believing in the consensus of the masses thinking Al’s book has to carry some weight after all, how could one get away with writing a book, having it soar to #1, and win a Nobel Peace Prize? That is the pathetic state our country is in. Too tired or busy to ferret out the real truth, always wanting someone else to do the work and we just sit back and choose from multiple-choice answers that are provided to us nary researching and deriving our own ideas and points of view. Kind of like how the American public spends more investigating the next car they’ll buy than researching who they’ll vote for to run the country. This is what laziness and busy-ness gets, a nose ring with an emotional and guilt-wrought tow rope. The American people get what we deserve when we fail to make the effort of due diligence. This is how Al got away with it. And if you are too lazy to read this book, skip to page 251 and read through 254. It summarizes the blatant misconceptions and illuminates the correct, provable facts.< Less
