The humorous novel “The Hope Chest - By Arthur Meds,” is the draft of a fictional book by a fictional author. The finished novel is the story of a man, and the events in his life that lead him to enter a pub tucked away down an alley. This draft isn’t as straightforward. According to the preface written by the fictitious Michael Wallace Ellinglsy, the original manuscript for the best-selling novel “The Hope Chest” was found in a diaper bag in Chicago. That draft contained an early version of the story along with marginal notes and parenthetical comments. This book is an experiment where the reader follows along as a novel unfolds and its author struggles to tell a story. Scenes are abandoned. Characters are introduced and forgotten. Three men are stranded in a boat where they find a kazoo and argue the existence of God. At its core, it is the story of a person struggling through adversity – and failing. "Buy this book immediately" It's been a long time since I read something that made me laugh out loud and uncontrollably. In fact, reading the preview of this book was the first time that has ever happened. And I think that’s pretty amazing. In fact, it took me nearly fifteen minutes to regain my composure and wipe the tears of absolute joy and thorough entertainment from my cheeks. The author has done a damn fine job here. And I gotta say, what a brilliant and original idea. If you aren’t compelled to purchase this book, you clearly have no sense of humor. Or taste.

"excellent" This is fantastic, I don't remember ever hurting from laughing so much. If you ever read Douglas Adams "Hitch-hiker's Guide", with it's totally pointless hilarious statements, then you will love this, if you haven't then pass on the "Guide" and go straight to "The Hope Chest." I have bought the download, because I didn't want to wait three weeks to read the rest!

"Brilliant, absolutely hilarious. " I was attracted to the book “The Hope Chest” by the bizarre description, and I am glad I was. A great novel, filled with great humour, strange coincidences, and furry woodland creatures. Sarcasm is this man's element. The way the author has combined so many different styles, jokes, and strange topics makes this into a class book. I would advise every reader out there to drop any other comedy books, and come and read this! Stefan

As someone who was brought up on off the wall humour, I 'got' this from page one. The general flow of madness is very pleasing to the mind. To 'bring alive' a fictional writer, and a bad one at that, has been done very well indeed, and the authors notes are often even funnier than the main text. All in all, you are like a constrained Spike Milligan with more than a hint of Python. I don't know whether you've sold bucket loads already, if not, then I'm sure it will happen. Well done.
