The poetry open mic host of the Cafe from 2003 through 2009, and the founder of monthly art gallery poetry readings (which are now perofrmed in a desanctified church) called "First Fridays", Charlie Newman has regularly had accepted poetry appear in cc&d magazine since 2000. But in the 1990s, he had material accepted to cc&d magazine under his pen name, Deckard Kinder. This book is a collection of his published writings in cc&d magazine, as both Deckard Kinder and Charlie Newman.
