This compilation of non-fiction narratives is based on insights and observations made by the author while working in the domestic 'scene' in England. The stories will have great human interest value for the reader, as they highlight real life situations. You will certainly laugh at some of these authentic descriptions of an 'upstairs downstairs' environment in today's England. The author's truth seeking ability to reveal imbalance and injustice, makes for interesting reading.

This book is filled with the topical, meaningful and revealing issues that surround domestic work in England and probably any country. I could not put this book down until I had finished it, it made me laugh out loud at the candid observations made by this author. The chapter about stepsons moved me deeply and is of course a sad reality in our society. I think this is a great book that would be a pilot for a sitcom of a modern day 'upstairs downstairs'.
"Truth seeking, hilarious and thought provoking" This is a very realistic and honest compilation of narrations about work in the domestic environment of England.I have experienced this also for myself and I take my hat off to this author for revealing some of the hidden aspects in this line of work. Charmiene Maxwell-Batten's style of writing is easy to read; she also has an innate ability to see the amusing side of human behaviour, which reflects in her writing and makes for some light hearted humor. Thankyou for a great read!
"Interesting, Insightful and real!" I really enjoyed this book as I've enjoyed all the books by this author. The diversity of these fact based stories keeps the reader's interest. I had to laugh out loud at some of the scenarios in this domestic arena - and other times the author exposes in a non-judgemental way, the behaviour of some people who simply exploit others. I like the human interest and journalistic aspect of this book.
"Observations of class and human nature" I just read Charmiene's new book pretty much in one setting! I felt like I was given an insight into a part of the world that I had little knowledge of. As usual, Charmiene's observations are keen and intriguing. I find myself thinking about the images she evokes. This is a wonderful compilation of eye witness accounts to a world we rarely get to experience this intimately.
