North Carolinian artist Kristin Gibson earned her BFA in Surface Design and Painting at East Carolina University in 1990 and has been following her creative endeavors and aspirations since then. Mrs. Gibson primarily focuses on painting still life and interiors with her subjects ranging from fruit, chairs, domestic interiors, to flowers. Mrs. Gibson’s innovative painting style, alla prima, colloquially know as wet-into-wet, elicits a sense of fluidity and progression on the canvas. From my interviews with the artist and examination of her works concerning domestic interiors I have established a connection to certain 17th century Dutch domestic scenes.
