Reviewer 1: Chelsea's second novel reflects issues of our time: concern over the sustainability of our world; the strength of family and friends and the despair of rejection; the dilemma of risk taking versus safety; and the need for belief in a positive future, where all can achieve. In a natural process in contemporary writing by a young person, cyberbullying infiltrates the security and sanctuary of Cassandra's bedroom. Earth Child moves from fantasy to reality, from Australia to Norway, from drought to forest to icy lands and the depths of the sea. Through her adventure to find herself, Cassandra faces decision making situations which are at times life threatening, always challenging: such, at times, is the life of the reader. Earth Child provides a brisk, exciting adventure with a depth of relevance for young readers which is unobtrusive and therefore, powerful. Reviewer 2: I find it difficult to believe that Chelsea is only 11 years old. Her powers of perception and... More > understanding of such complex issues are amazing. The story flows beautifully and the importance of the issues never overshadow the belief Cassandra holds dear to herself. Her ability to express her emotions and to stand tall in adversity is genuinely expressed. Earth child is a wonderful for children discovering the power of the written word.< Less
