"Invisible Girl", is the best book I've read in this genre. We are invited to see life through the eyes of Maeve a girl with invisible disabilities and to see things from the point of view her older brother and mother as well. Maeve is a very interesting, imaginative girl and her family loves and appreciates her uniqueness. The outside community is the real challenge in their lives, and they barely overcome the discrimination and crushing rigidity of the people and the system with power over their lives. This is how "Invisible Girl" differs from other books in the genre, we are not just invited into the world of someone who sees everything in a charming new way, or the suffering of disability, we also see how her disabilities would not have to be such a barrier, if there were accommodation and support for those who are different and vulnerable in society, and for their families as well.
