This book, the idea and the message, is the crystallization of a life time knowledge, through author's experience in the front line of this ecological war of our century. Well researched, well plan and written. It should be taught in school.

This novel is carefully crafted and hard to put down. As other reviewers have noted, the author has drawn ideas from seminal works concerning global ecology, overpopulation, and the fate of our planet, and he has woven them into an epic story driven by a compelling cast of characters. The themes hold universal appeal, although readers who have spent time in the New Zealand bush will especially appreciate the vividness of the setting as the characters scramble through a gorse-covered gully or lay down for a rest on a bed of crown ferns. I challenge anyone to finish this book without reconsidering how his or her habits affect the biosphere.
