Apr 12, 2010Easy and consistent story to follow with a very positive message. It's not that we make mistakes in life; it's how we go forward to better ourselves after making a bad choice that separates the wheat from the chaff. I will definitely give this book to each of my grandsons for their 10tth birthday.

Apr 11, 2010A great book for a 12 year old kid, or anyone who has ever been one. I just finished it and plan to read it with my boys. I look forward to reading additional books by this author.

Apr 8, 2010My 12 year old son and I read Beckett 81 and we both really enjoyed it. He plays hockey rather than football, but I think this book is relevant no matter which sport a kid plays. Hard work and determination pay off in the end. I like the basic family values running through the story also. And it is written in a way that kids can relate to the main character, Johnny. I believe it is a book that would appeal to 4th, 5th and 6th graders.

Apr 6, 2010This book has a great flow to it and will especially appeal to boys from 8 to 14. I really like the main character, Jonhhy Beckett, whose inner struggles are typical of an 11-12 year old boy. This book delivers a powerful message about how having a positive attitude and being respectful and obedient will actually get you further in the long run. I lent my copy to a 10 year old boy next door who, when he returned it, asked if he could borrow the sequel when it comes out.

Apr 6, 2010This is a great book for kids and adults. I bought it for my nephew who, like Johnny Beckett, dreams of playing Pop Warner football. He's 7 and has been reading it with his Dad...both really enjoying the story!
