"Dark Poetry, Dark Tales - a life to....... (Chris Gough)" When I was asked to read this book, I thought 'Oh! No - I'm gonna hate it'. Known for being ruthlessly honest, with an adversity to anything relating to violence, chopped up bodies and inner darkness's, I run for the first sign - EXIT! Anyway, here goes... MY HONEST REVIEW Absolutely excellent! I was gripped by the short horror tales, their Eerie plot developments, leaving me with suspension of disbelief. Anyone who likes Stephen King, will appreciate, if not all of these stories, at least three. Chris Gough's genre varies in style. Capturing my attention and leaving me gripped to my seat- is a true credit on such sophisticated horror writing. I see these stories being made into short films - and anyone who has ever watched 'Tales of the Unexpected' - will certainly have an eye for vision! "Dark Poetry, Dark Tales: Hits the mark!" Excellent collection. Very enjoyable.There are some darker pieces like "I've Got..." (great use of imagery!) but also some lighter fare like "The Enchanted Box." (Which incidentally has one of the best lines I've read in a long time... "a hint that fairies are true")You definitely don't want to read "We'd All Like Xmas to Come Early" as a bedtime story to your child. They will have nightmares!Have re-read each piece now several times and continue to find it just as enjoyable as the first time.
