First, the negatives! -Littered throughout the story were some SPAG mistakes -Can be confusing in places, but a reread will sort that out -I think there were also far too many villains, with too many narratives and too many clashing ideas. -*SPOILER* Paine dies :( Now, the shining positives! -Sets scenes very well, provides context, good detail. -It had a creative, enjoyable and intriguing storyline. It was interesting how Harris amalgamated so many themes and ideas and mixed Greek Mythology with the future. -Humor is also used in the right places. -Brilliant imagery -A powerful tone. -My favourite people in the story were really the secondary characters and especially, Blind assassin, Master Eye and Silent Creeper-the first few paragraphs about them are intriguing, enigmatic and tense. -The pace is extremely fast, yet tense. - GENERAL PAINE IS AMAZING! And the jokes about him are great. -It's fast paced and intense and has simple but powerful description. -The story is somewhat... More > related to current issues, such as global warming, deforestation and terrorism. -The ending is amazing. A massive twist made me gasp, and the sheer intensity of the final chapter engrossed me completely. Obviously thought out and not rushed at all. Overall, despite the flaws, this is a great book, and I may even buy the print version.< Less
