Chris Limb charts his discovery of Toyah, and the journey through his adolescence and the late 70s/early 80s in such an interesting way that 'I Was A Teenage Toyah Fan' was difficult to put down once I started reading it. There's much for Toyah fans of a certain age to identify with here, but this book will appeal to anyone who grew up in the 80's, anyone who has been a huge fan of a pop star or band (that's most of the population!), or indeed anyone who simply enjoys great storytelling. A highly recommended read. Thanks Chris.

I finished this last night and was overcome by a moment of melancholy, mainly because I had been enjoying reading this book so much that it was a shame it had come to an end. Personally, I did, literally, find it unputdownable. I would highly recommend this book, and not just to Toyah fans. I think many people who have felt some kind of slightly obsessive love for a pop star will be able to relate magnificently to this book. Chris's writing is honest and open and fair (especially given the all-seeing power of hindsight) as well as being interesting and amusing in equal measure. He also captures the decade that was the eighties - as seen through enthusiastic teenage eyes - incredibly well and this book acts, in part, as a great documentary of that time. I was a Toyah fan during those years, and I knew Chris at the time, so I can attest to many of the feelings and experiences he has written about and also to their veracity. It's a great read and I'd definitely suggest you give it a go.
