"Gripping and Original! A +++" I was really intrigued right from the first page when you're immediately plunged into a mystery that's in need of solving. I found it so fun to be able to get immersed into the characters lives and how you're able to empathise with their troubles. Very original story and the perfect book if you're in the mood for an easy read. Nothing too challenging but extremely well written.

"Review in Newbury Weekly News 6/8/07" Life’s Cruel Lesson, by Chris Thursfield. Published by, priced £9.99 IT’S impressive that an 18-year-old can write a 400-page novel in between his school studies; the pleasant surprise is that Life’s Cruel Lesson is actually rather excellent. Although the novel is self-published via the website, Kingsclere teenager Chris Thursfield took the sensible step of having it professionally proofread, designed and cover illustrated, meaning that the book looks like the real deal. More importantly, this mystery novel for young adults is a rollicking read. Fifteen-year-old Luke finds himself on the fast track to adulthood as he uncovers the truth behind a sudden family tragedy. The story combines well-researched detail with Luke’s wide-eyed view of the world as he discovers some of the delights and harsh realities of life outside his previously sheltered existence. It all comes to a bit of an abrupt end, and there’s... More > unfortunately couple of missing words on the back cover, but it’s nothing a bit of guidance from a professional book editor wouldn’t sort out. Fingers’ crossed that a mainstream publisher now spots Thursfield’s potential. Life’s Cruel Lesson is available from as a paperback for £9.99 or £4 for a downloaded e-book.< Less
