"A Good Start" A good start to what I hope is a long series of these anthologies. There's a mix of different styles and lengths of story, something to suit most horror story fans, I should think. There are a number of stories here which really deserve to be well known, and even managed to bring a delighted shiver as I read them on a bus in the bright daylight of a summer morning!

"Hopefully the First of Many!" A superbly entertaining read in it's own right, and a loving tribute to the well thumbed old paperbacks that lurk in the shadowy corners of second hand book shops, this book features a wide range of delicious horrors. Whether your taste leans towards cozy fireside tales told in Victorian gentlemen's clubs or to the festering barbarity of modern Urban nightmares, from the tongue-in-cheek to the teeth-in-throat, there's something for everyone here. Cannibals, ghosts and doorways to Hell, and lavishly illustrated throughout!Buy it now, if you have the guts...

"An engrossing collection with something for all" I'm lucky enough to have had one of my stories featured in this collection but would like to pay a small tribute here to high standard of writing and imagination elsewhere in The First BHF Book of Horror Stories. Some were like brief little paper cuts and others more ambitious and broader of scope, but taken together they all did an excellent shop of capturing the spirit and variety of the old Pan collections which inspired this one. The aged cover illustration is a beauty and the artwork that appears throughout of an equally high standard. Roll on volumes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 ...

"BHF Book Of Horror Stories" A great collection that really does recall a golden age of British Horror Anthologies, not least those collected by the late, great Herbert Van Thal. First in a series that promises much. Special mention for the stories of Daniel McGachey and James Stanger - two polar opposites from the world of horror. Daniel will send shivers down your spine with his Victorian supernatural tale, and James will have you throwing up your lunch with a contemporary in-yer-face bloodbath. They're all well worth a look.
