    • Rev. Dr. Gerhard Bode, Assistant Professor of Historical Theology, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri: “Christian Tiews has written a travelogue like no other, exploring history, culture, and faith with a purpose. Looking for Luther offers readers a personal tour through Luther’s life and homeland, inviting them on a journey that is both reflective and entertaining.” • Pearl Wittkopp Garrison, Tulsa, Oklahoma; former editor of The Tulsa Tribune: “This is a wonderful, entertaining, and educational book.” • Mollie Z. Hemingway, “Tiews could have written an ordinary travel guide. Instead, he has written a rather extraordinary journey into the heart of Lutherland. If you’re headed to Germany or have been there before, Tiews’ keen observations will greatly enrich your experience and understanding. If you haven’t had the pleasure of visiting the historical sites that shaped the Great Reformer, Tiews’ book will leave you edified and itching to hop the first plane to... More > Lutherland.” • Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison, LCMS World Relief and Human Care Executive: “Winsomely written. Full of practical information. Read it even if you’re not planning a trip! But be careful. You’ll end up with a better understanding of the faith, and you’ll be booking flights soon.” • Rev. Dr. Robert Kolb, Missions Professor of Systematic Theology Emeritus, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri: “Readers look at Luther and the scenes of his life through the eyes of a Lutheran pastor, whose roots and personal experience as a citizen of both Germany and the U.S. give him a unique view of the places where Luther’s life took place. His observations, sober and serious, light-hearted and humorous provide past, present, and future visitors with a sense of the geography and theology of the Wittenberg reformer.” • Rev. Dr. Martin Noland, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Evansville, Indiana, and former Director of the Concordia Historical Institute, St. Louis, Missouri: “This book is the perfect resource for those thinking about a trip to the Luther lands, or who are interested in discovering what those historic places are like today. It is a ‘must buy’ for pastors thinking about leading such a tour as we approach the quincentennial year of 2017.” • David Preus, M. Div., Ph.D. student, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri: “Accessible, instructive and charming, Looking for Luther is a handy little book that skillfully combines personal experience, historical interpretation and theological conviction.” • Uwe Siemon-Netto, former religion editor of United Press International, Lutheran lay theologian, and President of the “League of Faithful Masks—Center for Lutheran Theology & Public Life”: “Not only English speakers, but especially Germans are in desperate need of an effective teacher of faith such as Tiews, a rare author capable of weaving two distinctive vocations together in a travelogue of melancholy charm, the vocations of a tour guide and a pastor.” • Alina Laura Tiews, Ph.D. student in Historical Studies, Universität Münster, Germany: “Providing pertinent historical, geographic, and religious background information, Looking for Luther is a travel journal, travel guide and personal interpretation—all rolled into one. Engaging and lively.” • Rev. Dr. Wilhelm Torgerson, Berlin, Germany; former director of the International Lutheran Society of Wittenberg : “Looking for Luther should become required reading in Reformation History at the seminaries.”< Less
