For someone like me, who couldn't draw a stick figure if I were holding a tree branch dipped in ink, I found Holechek's book thoughtful and attentive. While not a voluminous read, it did have lots of volume. I'm talking about intellectual decibels, with the mental magnitude of a jackhammer, as Holechek discusses sound as it relates to her work. This book was so good that I freely admit to not doodling in the margins. (But mostly because then I'd be drawn in to comparing my "drawings" with the masterpieces Holechek has on display as she talks about her process.) So, if you were to ask me if I'd recommend this book, I'd probably respond, "If da Vinci and Dangerfield teamed up, would a one-liner count as a drawing?"
