"A glorious read on a beautiful subject." 'Most Beautiful Princess' captures the essence of the enigmatic Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna, princess and saint. A work of fiction based on fact and not one dimensional flights of fancy. One can see the sunlight on the train platform when Elizabeth takes her first steps into the world of Imperial Russia; feel the icy wind through the snow as she makes her way through St. Petersburg to a glittering ballroom; and hear Serge's anxious foot tapping as he lights another cigarette. Upon finishing the book a friend told me that she felt she came to really know Elizabeth, and found respite from the world in the books pages. A thoughtful, lovely work that you won't soon forget.

"Most Beautiful Princess" "Most Beautiful Princess" is a wonderful blend of historical accuracy and psychological insight set in brilliant, entertaining and beautiful prose. The reader is immediately transported into the hearts, minds and situations of the real people behind the names and faces in history books. From the fluent dialogue and the deep reflections, the characters reveal themselves as fully-rounded human beings involved in a tragedy of epic proportions. In spite of the tragedy and inevitable end, however, this novel is lightened by moments of sheer joy and laughter, and one comes away from it feeling truly uplifted. A thoroughly absorbing and inspirational read!

"Beautiful Princess, beautiful read!" Having read Christina Croft's earlier biography of Grand Duchess Elizabeth, I half-expected this book to hold nothing new - how wrong I was! This book is like a breath of fresh air, giving a real insight into the character of the Grand Duchess, as well as many other members of her family. I felt I was living through all the ordeals, joys and sorrows with them and came away with the feeling that I had actually met them in person. From the tiniest mannerisms to the world-changing events, this book is a thoroughly good read!
