I read this powerful and informative read on last month and apologize for not responding sooner. As this is the topic for my thesis this year I found it to resound all I have been saying for many years. When ever people (Christians especially) question our political system I always refer them back to the Bible, 1st Samuel 8 where it all begins. The Israelites wanted a King so they could be like all of the other nations (Heathen Nations). God's permissive will does have its non-benefits. They rejected God as their King and He laid out the rights of the human King and the consequences. That has not changed to this day. As long as a human serves in this capacity there is no candidate that we can vote for who will totally uphold God's laws. So we will participate in decisions we do not agree with one way or another, and as Christians we need to pray, search the word of God, our hearts and know the political issues: not just what a candidate claims he stands for. I once voted for a... More > candidate who spouted and appeared to uphold Christian principles but I had not researched the issues as they really were. Before he was out of office his love for personal power and greed had torn our country down, and taken quite a few neighboring countries and allies down with us also. Since then I have learned to research the issues as they really are, there is no perfect King, but God. Christians must vote. Christians must have a voice in our political system. Christians must do more than talk and pray, although it is these voices of prayer that have upheld our country from its beginning. We are not perfect, but God has blessed America even as she wanders further and further away from His statutes. Try living in another country, not just visiting and it all becomes very apparent. Christians must research the issues as they really are. We cannot be silent. Thank you Christina for sharing. This book is one for our times, and I do plan to quote you in my thesis.< Less
