It's a conversation with a dear friend that speaks directly to your heart. He tells you truth you need to hear to fix your life without being harsh. It's only at the end of the book you come understand he's sharing his heart, giving you the gift of love, encouragement, and non-judgmental understanding. The book is inspiring, entertaining, and has valuable insight. J

Reading Hannibal’s “Across the Table” seems exactly like that: sitting across the table with a good friend who is telling really great stories. From a memorable trip to Berlin to interactions with fans and foes to Aha moments of wisdom for magicians and non-magicians alike, Hannibal lays his soul on the page. In a time where everyone is publishing “get wise quick” treatises, “Across the Table” is a breath of fresh air. Gleaned from years of busking (entertaining crowds who tell you how much they like you by filling your hat with money, not by applause) and traveling the world’s roads as a self-proclaimed #cardmonkey, Hannibal’s wisdom is the truest kind: the kind won from living life in all its ups and downs, good times and not so good times. Hannibal pulls no punches and lets us know what he thinks. Yet, Hannibal’s directness is never preachy, never “You have to do this or that because I said so;” rather, he gives us insight that just might keep us from making the same mistakes.... More > Hannibal has written a rare book. While it is about a magician, it is not just for magicians. You won’t find any tricks explained or deep theory about cards and coins. Instead you’ll find a book about heart and soul; a book about keeping your eye on the goal even though there are obstacles in the way; a book about keeping faith even when you really want to give up. If I have one criticism about the book it is this: “Across the Table” is too short. But, what could I expect from a consummate entertainer? As P T Barnum (or was it Walt Disney) said, “Always leave them wanting more.” Well done, Sir. Well done.< Less
