Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Fungal infections of skin are one of the most common infections in human beings. The areas which are likely to get infected include the scalp, the hands and the feet. Finger nails and toenails are made up of protein and are a form of modified hair. Nail grows at an average rate of Nails infected with fungus take even longer to grow. The actual growth rate depends upon adequate blood flow, age, season, exercise level and various hereditary factors. The growth record of the nail can show the history of recent health and physiological imbalances and has been used as a diagnostic tool for other medical conditions. Nails can also be thickened (onychogryphosis), loosened (onycholysis), infected with fungus (onychomycosis) or growing poorly (onychodystrophy). The disadvantages of oral antifungal agents are severe liver toxicity and longer treatment period. Also, medicated nail lacquers have been developed for the treatment of fungal infections i.e. onychomycosis, which have less toxicity.
