From a childhood traumatic experience, Gina's life skews from what it should have been, and we see it through the eyes of the people around her. It is in their words that we gain a sense of who Gina is, and who she may one day be. This coming of age drama goes beyond childhood to the consequences of the decisions we make, and how they affect others.

Christopher McCullah takes a very unique approach by making the main character a supporting actress in her own story. It's the story of Gina Schubert, a small town girl with no impositions on anyone or anything. But the world is imposed upon her, sometimes violently and often surprisingly. Each chapter of her life is told from the POV of those closest to her, and what better way to learn about someone. Even so, there is a bit of lingering mystery about Gina's life, even unto her until the very end. Through a series of stories from childhood through motherhood, with fast paced action and heartfelt emotion, we get a wonderful sense of Gina, and the story she has to tell.
