"Realistic, or not?" While the ideas in the book are completely non-realistic, I must say that there are some pretty heavy parts in it as well. For example, while Brett does just pick up and leave everything -- because why? -- and he meets this girl that knows as much about life as she does about quantum physics -- although she is in some elite school -- they do seem to get to life's real problems and handle them as only real people can. That is why I love this book.

"better!" Mr. Yarnall's forte seems to be the solemn and serious. This is a good book -- it leads you in slowly and well. However, the tone snags in the middle: grammar tips, the tone changes with wrongly selected words, and the pace slows down when it should be quicker and vice versa. The tone and points of view change half-way as well, and they throw the reader off. The idea is good, moreover; it's something you realize when you reach the end, but it's something that hasn't been built up with enough literary strength to hold up or add impact to the story. The story, on the whole, seems rather drawn out; or, if not, repititive. I'm a lover of fairy tales, however, and with some tweaking, this could be a good one!
