I really enjoyed this collection of short stories. There is a lot more to them than you first think and I'm finding that I keep thinking about them and discovering hidden layers. They're also fun and great if you don't want to commit to a long read. Each story is quite short - it's a great book for dipping in and out of.

Always imaginative and by turns, humorous, fanciful, event violent, they share a common thread of wanting to escape, to fly the everyday world. Personal favourites include Aunt Sadie’s Shoes, where each pair of footwear, tucked away in a wardrobe, displays and transmits its own individual personality, and the poignant Reflections, where your heart yearns for the lovelorn Maureen. Le May’s inventive tales draw us into the minds of her many and various characters, exploring and revealing fragments of their lives.
