As a young girl in the 1940's, Anne Harrison, could ride and rope as well as most grown men. She raised her own colt, Smoky, to be a roping horse for rodeo events, as well as to work cattle on her father's Sprague River ranch.
On a perfect summer day, while out for a leisurely ride with her friend John Olson through the hills adjoining the ranch, their pleasant day takes a dramatic turn when they witness a murder. Two town dignitaries conspire with three local characters to obtain ownership of the Harrison family ranch. Can Anne, John and the Harrison ranch endure the conspiracy? Will the murderers be exposed?
