A very impressive collection of quotations about James Bond and his popular culture footprint. Licence To Quote is a Bond fans' dream containing chapters and sections on every aspect of the Bond empire (books, films, actors, cars, gadgets, etc.) and a few 'special' chapters such as 'Spy Another Day' and 'The Bond Identity' that relate 007's impact on the real spy world and the fictional spy world respectively. All in all an excellent must-have-book for Bond fans; while the depth of research and ground-breaking format / layout is a case study for aficionados of quotations books. " 'The name’s Bond, James Bond' " ... It’s timeless, the quotable equivalent of a Savile Row suit. And James Bond: Licence To Quote is the quotable equivalent of an Aston-Martin DB5 with all the trimmings.

EDITOR'S INTRODUCTION JAMES BOND: LICENCE TO 'QUOTE' - The Quotable Double-0 Seven. 1500 Humorous Quotations about Commander Sir James Bond, KCMG, RNV LICENCE TO ‘QUOTE’ is the first book of humorous quotations solely dedicated to the ever-expanding universe surrounding James Bond. This book does not cover quotes from the Bond films or books, but uniquely focuses on the humorous comments made - by those directly involved in the Bond films and books, by the media, by critics and by fans - about 007. LICENCE TO ‘QUOTE’ is all over the lighter side of Double-0 Seven: his life, his books & movies, his enemies & lovers, his cars & gadgets. A sample of the fun-packed quotations from James Bond: Licence To 'Quote': THE SECRET AGENT "James Bond was a suave intellectual who could slice through life’s difficulties with the ruthless efficiency of Oddjob’s hat." William Grimes in The New York Times (1991) THE FILMS "I wish he’d get back to the days when Bond head-butted... More > Curt Jürgens in the face, blew up Donald Pleasence’s volcano and went to bed with Barbara Bach." Jeremy Clarkson in The Sunday Times (2009) THE LEADING MEN "As Bond, Daniel Craig looks much more at ease leaping off balconies than he does leaping into bed." Anthony Quinn in The Independent (2008) THE BOND GIRLS "Everyone in Bond is named after somebody Ian Fleming knew. Pussy Galore was probably his cleaning lady." Sinclair Mackay, The Man with the Golden Touch (2008) HEAD OFFICE "‘M’ has become so maternal in her dealings with Bond that you half expect her to slip a lollipop in with his next travel itinerary." Kurt Loder on (2008) BOND GADGETS "The gadgetry, introduced as usual by ‘Q’, can do everything except reserve a table at Spago." Jami Bernard in The New York Daily News (1997) BOND CARS "Bond is little different from comic book characters. 007’s Aston-Martin is simply a Batmobile suitable for valet parking." Mark Feeney in The Boston Globe (2008) For more details on this book, please go to: Colin M Jarman [Editor]< Less
