“Life is Beautiful” by Roberto Benigni was first released in 1997. The Italian title of the drama is “La vita e bella.” It is a tragicomedy comedy-drama film. Benigni himself plays the role of Guido Orefice who happens to be a Jewish Italian book shop owner. He wants to protect his son form the horrors of a Nazi concentration camp. Some part of the movie is inspired by Benigni’s own family history, before his birth. Before his birth his father had already survived three years of internment at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.
