Denali Akulu made two promises in his life. The first was when he said I do. The second was a promise made to his Grandfather that he would never travel into the Windermere. The first promise he kept, the second he broke…twice.
The promise was broken the first time when Denali was a young private in the Army. His unit was called to train in the Windermere. The entire unit was butchered on the first night. Everyone was killed except for Denali who managed to escape and find shelter in a cave. He was not left unharmed, the creatures razor sharp claws buried into Denali’s back giving him a painful reminder of what happened that night.
Several years later Denali was at his home in Juneau when the phone rang. The creature had been shot, the body had to be identified and a promise would be broken for the second time. Denali reluctantly boarded a plane hoping to find that the nightmare had ended. Instead he finds that the nightmare has just begun.
