My wife and I have just finished reading an extraordinary first book, Cigala, written by DL Sigler! My wife read it over several days last week, and I started reading it Saturday, more on Sunday, and finished it early Monday morning. I couldn’t put it down. DL Sigler is a retired builder who has exhibited an amazing talent in writing this book. My great grandfather’s niece, Laura Ingalls Wilder was 65 when she began writing the Little House books. Her audience was for the most part children. Cigala is a book about the same period in our country’s history, and will grab an adult audience, those like my wife and me, older, who know some of the history so adroitly incorporated into this book. I also think Cigala will grab a younger audience who will see it as a way to learn some of our great nation’s history, no longer taught well in our schools. As I read Cigala, it was easy for me to ‘become’ Tom. The story drew me into the role being portrayed through him. On the cover, ‘An orphan’s... More > Journey to Manhood in the Time That It Takes to Pull a Trigger’ is so appropriate. Two triggers, actually. Knowing the recoil of one 12 ga, I can surely imagine the recoil of two simultaneously on a 13 year old boy, about to become a man. DL Sigler promised a ‘next book’ in the last sentence of Cigala, and could very well be even better than Cigala. We are looking forward to the journey Mr Sigler is about to take us into the Klondike as we glean golden!< Less
