6 Disorders of Sleep is a collection of six 6-part poems by Dale Wisely, who has been a psychologist for 30 years and a poet and poetry editor for about as long. “Long ago,” says Wisely, “I embraced poetry as a kind of antidote to the pressures of practicing clinical psychology and psychotherapy and, of course, I ended up writing poetry about human psychology and human experience. Once I turned to poetry to get away from work, and now I often go to work to get away from poetry.” These pieces, mostly prose poems, are sometimes surreal, sometimes clinical, and often surreally clinical.
