The successful candidate will trade hunger and hardship for a life of luxury and excess. However, it quickly becomes clear that The Interview is nothing like they expected. Who will survive the brutal waiting game that unfolds? To what lengths are the candidates willing to go to secure the job? And what secrets are they hiding from one another? The Interview is an expansive novel told in separate narrative threads, the first focusing on the events in the claustrophobic Interview room and the second going outside into the wider city where its citizens are being crushed under a brutal regime but where reform might just be on the horizon.

Jun 19, 2016Damian Bruce is a new writer that I have discovered, and if his new publication 'The Interview' is anything to go by, I greatly look forward to, and cannot wait for his next publication, and other publications he may have up his sleeve! The interview is a fascinating read. A page turner from start to finish that will leave you hungry for more. The plot is set in a dystopian world where 12 people arrive for an interview with a powerful and sinister Corporation. But there is a price to pay as each candidate reveals how far they are willing to go to secure the job for what they imagine to be a life of luxury and excess. A brilliant and fascinating read all the way to the end that poses a moral question or perhaps several moral questions that leaves one pondering the kind of society we currently live in, and where we might be headed. Buy it. You won't be disappointed!
Jan 30, 2016Highly enjoyable read, especially the flashbacks. Can be a little gruesome at times but that all fits within the desperate world of Frontline. As the story develops it has you thinking "could I pass the Interview"?
Jan 28, 2016I really enjoyed this book. It had a plot which is different from anything I have come across. You could make a movie from it. What a great idea this author, Damian, had. And so well written.
Dec 31, 2015A tragic portrayal of a society fighting for its existence in what's left of our world near the end of this century. A very well structured story of twelve desperate people, in a room together, set against each other... Yet, not everything that happens is in their hands. You don't need to be a science fiction fan to fully enjoy this excellent novel.
Dec 26, 2015It's always interesting to read a new work by a writer learning his/her craft and with The Interview we are treated to an imaginative scenario set in the genre of an Orwellian world with the very welcomed added ingredient of an Agatha Christie thriller. The structure is well crafted with just enough information on each character to make them real and keep one eagerly turning pages to reach a surprise denouement - just the ticket for a winters night.
